A modern leisure complex ‘Belvilis’, located in Moletai region, gained the title of the best Lithuanian leisure and recreation project in the year 2006 for the best architectural decisions and perfect integration of the object into nature, and the project authors were conferred a prestige award.
A prize of the known Lithuanian architect Algimantas Zavisa has been assigned for exclusive recreation architectural objects annually since 2003. This award it has been won by ‘Belvilis’ authors – six professionals from the architect office ‘Arches’: Rolandas Liola, Saule Lioliene, Arunas Liola, Edgaras Neniskis, Rusna Vainekyte and Liutauras Nekrosius.
The commission of the competition emphasized that ‘Belvilis’ project is of high professional level, laconic, but functional at the same time. According to assessors of ‘Belvilis’, it has been a success to create an individual style that has not turned to be a foreign body in the open country. The awarded architects have also deserved some praise for the completeness of the project as well as for the attention towards details.
Rolandas Liola, the supervisor of the architectural group that has designed a complex of ‘Belvilis’ by the lake of Bebrusai, claimed that formally there has been implemented a renovation project of an old soviet health resort. However, due to the assessment of work extent and complement that equaled a creation of a completely new complex. To the point of view of R.Liola, ‘Belvilis’ is the first one to provide and offer modern leisure, comfort and the highest level service in the open country.
‘It is completely obvious that at present people are looking not just for a modern shelter, where they will live every day, but some modern leisure too.
‘The weekend trip out of the town details are completely unnecessary; there has to be one hundred-year house and next to it placed old wagon, decorated with flower pots’, said R.Liola. He emphasized that the collective of ‘Arches’, purposefully dissociated from these and other ‘national’ details that traditionally follow Lithuanian country home and major of other recreation objects, located out of the town.
Due to R.Liola, the best words to describe ‘Belvilis’ are ‘piece and harmony’. Thus, there have been selected non-contrasting colors. A part of them was specially invented for the project of ’Belvilis’. Exclusive furniture, the major of them is authors’ work that decorates the interior of the guest-house and rooms. That is almost one leisure complex out of town with an underground parking. The elevator, air-conditioning system and plasmatic TVs in rooms are just several modern elements of ’Belvilis’.
On the other hand, one of the target objectives was to integrate organically this modern complex into natural nature. Consequently, it was attempted to match the basic building and single cottages to the present relief, partially through the repetition of its peculiarities. There are installed large windows in the latter buildings of ‘Belvilis’ that enable the visual enjoyment of the pinewood and nearby rippling lake beauty. Unexpected shapes were avoided in the 1.5-hecter complex, as under the architects’ project, nature itself had to remain the prevailing motive in ‘Belvilis’.
According to Lina Vengriene, the director of ‘Belvilis’ this complex is very cosmopolitan, as it could be suitable for any country all over the world. L.Vengriene noticed that not one foreign architect visited ‘Belvilis’, and praised the rest-house for the organic architectural decisions.
‘Belvilis’ ‘fusion’ type restaurant and an outstanding SPA complex have gained the interest of people, who pay less attention to the architectural patterns. ‘Belvilis’ restaurant has already become famous as a place, where it is possible to test traditional dishes from different countries and regions. In the SPA complex there are offered pleasures of the Turkish sauna, sauna and pool as well as professional massage.
This summer, in June, the leisure complex ‘Belvilis’ was assigned the support of 3.1 million Lt from the structural funds of the European Union in order to promote the development of tourism in Moletai region as well as to improve the general level of tourism service.
The construction and mounting of ‘Belvilis’ leisure complex that is about 60 kilometers from Vilnius, cost about 10 million Lt. That is the largest investment into an object of such a kind in the whole Highlands. ‘Belvilis’ is one of minor rest-houses that work all year round.
